The property in Montecito California known as the Glass Pavilion is currently for sale. Built by Steve Hermann, this contemporary home comes in at almost 14,000 square feet and is located on approximately 3.5 acres. The house has 5 bedrooms, 5-1/2 baths, a wine room and a gallery big enough to hold 32 cars. It’s definitely a one-of-a-kind. I have to ask: Knowing you were surrounded by 3.5 acres, would you feel comfortable enough to live in a glass house like this?

LOVE the house, wouldn’t change a thing! Not sure I could handle all the glass – can you imagine how often you’d have to clean it all?! It sure is beautiful though..

♥Ella-Cleaning all the glass would be the worst…hopefully there would be room in the budget to hire window washers. lol!

Money-cito! I love the house, but you are so right, it would take some getting used to!
♥Fashion Butter-Definitely would be unlike any place I’d lived before.

I think the bathroom scares me. And way too pristine – I need clutter

♥Deepa-lol! I noticed that too. The lack of any beauty products makes it look like a women has never even stepped foot in that bathroom.

Love the look! Sitting in the living room with that fireplace looks so peaceful and what a view! I think I could handle a retreat there. I know that the bathrooms would freak me out. Then it would not be peaceful..lol

♥Diane-I must say, sitting in that living room in front of the fire and surrounded by nature, must be sooo relaxing! But I don’t know if I could ever get used to showering in that bathroom either.

This is gorgeous. I love the strong interior walls of white and as long as I knew I had foliage to protect spectators from most views, I would love this type of home. So much light.

By the way, love that you appreciate Frasier as well.

♥Shannon-You’re right, the natural light throughout this home would be amazing. And because it’s in California…there would be lots of beautiful sunny days. About Frasier – I so miss my weekly Niles fix! Love that you’re a fan too!

Gah…that is amazing!I’d love it except for sleep time. I’d be freaked someone could be looking in at night and I’d have no idea, then the morning sunshine would kill a vampire like me. I’d never sleep past sunrise.

♥V-Oh I never even thought about morning. I am a super-early riser and can’t remember a time I wasn’t up before the sun, so it wouldn’t be an issue for us…but you’re so right – it would be a problem for most. Maybe a sleep mask?
XO Piper
That house is absolutely amazing. The light would be incredible inside, and that feeling of the outside ‘coming in’ would be wonderful I’m sure.
I wonder if you’d just eventually get used to having a more ‘open’ existence than what we’re traditionally used to? Perhaps you’d forget after a while that there aren’t really any places to hide??
♥Tracey-I guess a person would probably get used to it eventually. And if you could get used to it, it sure would be a beautiful place to live.
XO Piper
Oh my goodness – this house is gorgeous – BUT – I would be so paranoid and panicked about a peeping tom or something! I’m weird though – I got scared reading Twilight!

♥Laura-That is a scary thought! I think I would always be a little freaked out being alone at night. (I don’t even like being alone at night in a house with solid walls.)
XO Piper
Gorgeous. Wow. BUT. I would need to close the blinds or curtains at night. That hallway looks like a scary movie waiting to happen.

i got to agree with Annett above. i’ve seen way too many slasher flicks to be able to handle any overnights there. daylight is all good, but once i know THEY can see me but i can’t see THEM…heebie jeebies! tis a beautiful house otherwise; so clean and pristinely white.

Really love this house but would definitely need the staff to go along with it! I love the simplicity of the design and practically every piece chosen for it. While the glass will give plenty of light, it looks like its location is private. Oh the freedom!!
