Quote of the Week – Madonna Edition

madonna tophat Quote of the Week Madonna Edition

A lot of people are afraid to say what they want. That’s why they don’t get what they want.

~ Madonna

Today Madonna celebrates her 52nd birthday.  Although constantly controversial, the woman is a powerhouse.  If you think about it, for many…she’s ALWAYS been part of the music scene.  If you were born in 1984 (Like a Virgin’s release) or later, Madonna has just always been there.

For me, Madonna represents the strength of will and determination.  With the loss of her mother while Madonna herself was still a child, life was not easy.  Yet Madonna made her way to New York to pursue her dream.  And even after achieving success, she didn’t rest…  She continued to stay relevant by reinventing herself and putting out more and more music.  Her entrance into acting was downright ridiculed.  She kept going.  This year she launched a clothing line with her daughter.  It makes me wonder, “What’s next?”  And I have a feeling, that’s exactly the way Madonna wants it!

Madonna’s strength and determination seems unwavering.  Throughout her life she’s shown the power of being clear in her purpose; the power of passionately pursuing her goals.  That’s why I chose the above quote.  Following is a look back at her ever-evolving style.  Enjoy!

I have ALWAYS Loved Madonna! I remember going to the clubs in NYC and would look around and see who resembled Madonna the most with their outfits, accessories and hair! The good ole days.
Loved her ever-evolving controversial and fearless style. Wishing at times that I had the guts to do be so bold with style and determination!
I cannot believe that she is 52!…then again I can’t that I am only a few yrs. behind her!!!

♥Diane-Those were the good old days. Almost every girl wanted to be her. Love your choice of the word “fearless” in describing her style. Very well said!

I think my favorite quote from Madonna is “I have always had 1 goal and that was to rule the world!”

Gosh, I LOVE her – I remember listening to Like A Virgin secretly, cause my mom wouldn’t let me listen to it :)

I have been a Madonna fan from her very first album…I think practically ALL women in their 30s are Madonna fans; we grew up with her. Even though I don’t necessarily agree with some of her antics and views, she has always been a major source of inspiration for me because of her intelligence, strength, physical prowess, and uncompromising allegiance to the manifestation of her destiny.

Happy birthday to the one and only Madonna! Thanks for sharing this quote from her. I feel exactly the same way.

Madonna was the first musician that I became a “fan” of in my youth. Love her. The first tape I ever purchased was Madonna’s. Fond memories. =) Love all of the images.
