Good morning and welcome to July 1st! It’s officially mid-year. Six months behind us and six months still to go… How’s it going so far?
I don’t know about you, but my resolutions aren’t going as well as I’d hoped. Instead of beating myself up over it, I’ve decided to re-focus my efforts and try to make the rest of 2010 about living more mindfully. No more resolutions this year, just a commitment to be more in the moment and to seek joy. I plan to delight in the simple pleasures, like tending to my tiny new container garden (which I wish looked as pretty as the potted plants above.)
It seems the lovely Kaileen Elise of KaileenElise.com got it right the first time around. Following is her “2010 Manifesta” which she posted back in January. It’s a thoughtful list of intentions for living a beautiful life. I’m adopting parts of it as my mantra for the rest of the year and thought I’d share. Hopefully there’s something here for everyone. Here’s to a great second half of the year!

♥ Dawn – So happy to hear this year and your summer are going so well! I don’t know about you, but for me, summer is just a happy season. (Maybe it’s all the sunshine.) Best to you!

Thanks for this. I’m struggling with my intentions for the year as well, although I’m pleased that I’m making progress with some. Since I tend to be a perfectionist and beat myself up about what I HAVEN’T accomplished rather than what I have, one of my mantras for the year is “progress, not perfection.”
♥ Clara – I understand. It’s so easy to look at what still needs to be done and completely forget to give ourselves credit for what we’ve accomplished. Your “progress, not perfection” is beautiful. As a detail-oriented (perfectionist) person myself I find peace in that message and I’m sure others will too. Thank you so much for sharing it!

Awesome reminders! I never thought about the fact that we’re smack in the middle of the year. It’s kind of like a chance to make the second half better than the first! And I am, too.
