Spring/Summer 2010 Haute Couture:
On Wednesday of this week, Jean Paul Gaultier brought an exquisite collection down the runway in Paris. With fashion and details said to be inspired by Mexico, the Aztecs, and the movie ‘Avatar’ it was a visual delight.
The color palette consisted of a base of soft neutrals and black with pops of bright colors like yellow, orange and blue; plus several blue-green pieces.
Models sashayed down the runway in a mixture of accents including:
- Handbags that looked to be woven out of palm plants.
- Loads of turquoise jewelry.
- Elaborate sombreros-like hats, architectural braided headpieces or palm fronds acting as makeshift hats.
- Couture cowboy boots.
- Some even sported a cigar.
My three favorite elements were:
- The intricate woven pattern of several pieces, as shown pictures 1, 3 and 8 below.
- The dreamy blue-green palette as shown in pics 2-7 below.
- The amazing black dress in the last picture.

WOW, the weaving of his designs are gorgeous! That last dress is KILLER!
❤ Nicole–I so agree about the last dress. With the woven
detail and then the fact the top part almost looks like
feathers…I’m in love.

Love the woven palm tree dress. It’s outrageous, but very tropical and cool.
TheAL´s last blog ..Warm those Ears! Handmade Warmers & Muffs
❤ TheAL–You’re right…very tropical indeed. Maybe that’s
why I love these pieces so much. I’m ready for winter to
be over and would love to escape to the tropics!
