Casually Chic?
In a sea of typical award gowns, two women stood out to me during last night’s Golden Globes.
It wasn’t that they were wearing the most beautifully intricate gowns. In fact, it was quite the opposite. Both women took a more casual approach to this year’s ceremony.
Tea Leoni
While pairing a simple button up shirt with a glam skirt is nothing new, (think Sharon Stone circa 1998 Oscar Awards) it seemed to work for her.
Accessorized with a casually knotted strand of long pearls, a belt and wavy hair, I felt she came across as confident and beautiful.
Julia Roberts
Julia Roberts seemed to get the same memo as Tea. She arrived in a chic, short black dress with a black clutch and black shoes. No sequins. No cleavage. She too sported wavy “not-trying-too-hard” hair.
With her mega watt smile and a face-framing bold golden necklace, Julia seemed to stand out amongst her peers. I think that’s quite a feat in all black!
What do You Think?
While I will always love the glam gowns of award season, I feel Tea and Julia’s more casual looks worked for them on this occasion. What do you think?
Remember Sharon Stone’s Oscar ensemble? So controversial a decade ago.
Casual elegance or fashion don’t?
Beautiful in black or not trying hard enough?

I love the pictures! Considering I was unable to see it live here in Europe! The above ensembles are something we all could put together without spending thousands!!
❤ Melissa–You’re right, these looks are certainly more
attainable than most red carpet ensembles. I really liked
that both women took a chance with these outfits. In a sea
of gowns, these simple looks stood out.
