Michelle Obama

Today marks Michelle Obama’s 46th birthday.  Initially compared to Jackie Kennedy, Ms. Obama has really come into her own.

There are similarities between the two women.  Both were rather young first ladies and known for their sense of style.  However, that may be where the similarities end.

While Jackie Kennedy remained loyal to designer Oleg Cassini throughout most of her White House years, Mrs. Obama likes to mix it up.  Known to wear everything from Narciso Rodriguez to vintage and Talbots to J. Crew, Obama seems to have a more approachable style.

How Michelle Obama is Different:

Ms. O has shown bare arms, worn clothes that by some standards, don’t necessarily match; She made the cardigan almost a trendy piece and increased interest in costume jewelry.  In fact, Isaac Mizrahi has compared Michelle Obama to Carrie Bradshaw.
