Fulfilling Resolutions:
As I posted earlier, one of my resolutions this year is to read one book per month. (A perfect goal for the person with so many unread books!) As I perused my bookshelves today in search of book #1, I ran across *Frederic Fekkai: A Year of Style.
Originally released in 2000, this book is practically timeless. Designed as a month-by-month guidebook to fine-tuning personal style, it covers the following:
- fashion
- skincare
- entertaining
- beauty
- accessories
- hair care and more…
Through the years I’ve skimmed much of this book. But I’ve always wanted to work through the ideas over the course of an entire year…as it was intended. I’ve decided this is the year I’m going to do it.
New Experiences
Although a few of the fashion and beauty tips are pretty basic, many activities are intended to help the reader simplify personal style and to try new experiences.
There seems to be something for everyone. And how can I resist reading a book by a man who’s philosophy is, “Style is not about age, or height, or weight–it’s about a sense of ease, a sense of dignity, and a sense of individuality shining through.”
French Hot Chocolate and Facials, oh my…
I’ll update you along the way. Week one’s agenda includes making hot chocolate using the French method and scheduling a facial. This is going to be fun.

Sounds very nice. I really need to start reading on my collection of unread books.
Right now, I’m reading Twilight. Kinda embarassing, but true story.

Martha Payne´s last blog ..Sweeps Notice – Eleven Shoes @ Blondes, Poop, and Mascara
❤ Lauren and Kristie–Thanks! One of the things I’m really
enjoying about it is its message about simplifying and
organizing–two things I really need in my life.
❤ Martha–I think it’s great that you’re reading Twilight.
Don’t be embarrassed at all. In fact, considering the length
of those books, I think it’s pretty impressive!
❤ Clara–It’s so good to hear I’m not the only one feeling
the need to read more. Some days I feel like reading
is becoming a lost art. Good luck in meeting your goal!

Good for you to start fulfilling one of your goals on the 2d
day of January! Reading more — for me, it’s fiction — is one
of my 2010 goals as well. JINX.

That’s a good idea to tweak personal style over the course of a long period of time like a year. Otherwise the prospect becomes overwhelming…better to make small adjustments and move bit by bit toward that refinement of personal style.
