New Year’s Eve Fashion

Make an entrance without breaking the bank:

While glitz and glam are nearly a requirement for kicking off the new year, many are wondering how to sizzle on a budget this year.cocktails150 i New Years Eve Fashion

The easiest option is by accessorizing what you already own.  Start with a simple outfit…perhaps your favorite little black dress.

Next, add one or two accessories that really pop!  Here are some ideas:

  • Jeweled tights.  Don’t already have them?  Perfect DIY project.
  • Fun shoes.
  • Metallic scarf.
  • Glitzy clutch.  Another DIY project…just add broaches, ribbon or flat-back crystals to an old clutch…instant chic.

Then add in one piece of statement jewelry that works with your ensemble.  Maybe a sparkly cocktail ring or some killer earrings.

For makeup, accentuate one area…either go with strong eyes or a strong lip.  Then, (my personal favorite…) add some sparkle to whatever you’re accentuating.  If it’s the eye, add in some glittery eyeshadow.  And if it’s the lip, top with sparkly lip gloss.

And there you have it, one option for frugal fabulosity this New Year’s eve!

An Alternative Look:

Looking for a variation on the simple look above?  Find a festive or richly-colored tunic dress and accessorize with all black.

Most of us already have black shoes, tights, clutch and jewelry.  Pair them with the right dress and your basic black accessories become not-so-basic.  In the example below, I chose a sequined tunic.  But the look would be great with any color tunic or similar dress: purple, teal, royal blue, etc…  It’s all about using what you already own.

Wishing you a happy New Year’s Eve!
