Shopping for Fido and Fluffy:
I’m passionate about my furry children and wouldn’t let the holiday pass without some special gifts from Santa. It seems I’m not alone.
As I searched all of my favorite pet supply sites for gifts yesterday, the selection was slim at best. Compared to this time in previous years, it seemed more like a picked-over after-Christmas sale. Toys on backorder, sweaters completely sold out, etc…
So what happened? Are pets the only recession-proof member of the family? While families cut back on gifts to each other, is Fido still generously rewarded during the holidays?
Or, have retailers just severely limited their selections and inventory this year in anticipation of decreased sales? (If this is the case, I think they underestimated the demand.)
I’d love to know what you think about this subject. Do you buy gifts for your family pet? And if so, has the economic downturn affected your pet-gift purchases this year?

two dwarf hamsters will BE a gift this year. Oh, don’t get me started, I’m not thrilled. I don’t really do teensy crawly things… but dear husband buckled under. LOL!!! I did buy my favorite mini doxy a new sweater, though!

Yes…I definitely buy presents for my two dogs.
After all, they are such a TREASURE to our family!
However, since losing my job to our cruddy economy,
ALL of our gift giving is scaled back this year.

While I have no pets now, we didn’t get the Christmas gifts when we did have them.
But they get little things throughout the year, and I am sure they didn’t feel left out!
