Admission:
I admit it, I have a very silly holiday tradition. Blame it on a misspent youth. But for as far back as I can remember, I have a song I must hear every Christmas.
It is just so darn cute. And catchy.
Many of my friends had not heard of it until I subjected them to this jingle. As I prepare for our first holiday gathering of the season today, I thought I’d send it out to you too. ![]()
The following is the original track, sung by Gayla Peevey in 1953. She was about 10 or 11 years old at the time and was from Ponca City, Oklahoma. Eventually the song was used in a fundraiser for the Oklahoma City Zoo. Donations received were responsible for purchasing the zoo’s first hippo, Matilda. (Source: Wikipedia)
Do you have any obscure Christmas traditions? I’d love to hear them!

I can’t abide “Grandma got runover by a reindeer!” (she should have, in my opinion). But my brothers and I loved “Oh I Yust go nuts at Christmas” by a Swedish national TREASURE named Yogi Yorgesson from 1949! (my mom had old 78′s).
