Counting my blessings:
As a child, part of our Thanksgiving celebration involved the ritual of going around the table, each person explaining at least one thing for which they were thankful. One by one, people spoke with such sincerity in their voices…and then it was my turn.
With all eyes upon me, I’d mumble something about being grateful for my dog or whatever popped into my head. Such pressure for a little kid.
As I grew older, I actually started to put thought into my answers. I began to learn the power of gratitude.
Now in my own home, I continue this tradition. Over the past several days I’ve put a lot of thought into the subject. I’ve been, as they say, counting my blessings.
Here’s some of what I’m thankful for:
My loving husband.
He makes me feel like a princess, even on days I don’t act like one.
Pug kisses. I love my furry children!
The feeling of sun on my skin.
Big old trees.
Sitting under the stars on a hot summer night…talking with friends.
Sound of waves crashing against the shore.
Joy of watching morning’s first light as it rises above the horizon.
Red barns.
Hot stone and deep-tissue massages.
Being the first person up and out early in the morning after a huge snowfall. It’s so silent–it feels like you’re the only person in the world.
The smell of fresh lavender.
And last, but certainly not least…I am thankful for YOU!
For all of you celebrating Thanksgiving this week – have a happy one! And safe travels to those of you who will be traveling over the next few days.

I love this post ! I am thankful for some of the same things.
The one I loved the most was :
“Being the first person up and out early in the morning after
a huge snowfall. It’s so silent–it feels like you’re the
only person in the world.” There was something so magical
about the picture and about how you said that
