Behind the sunglasses:

Just like Coco herself, the current head designer and creative director for the House of Chanel remains a bit of a mystery.  In fact, the elusive Karl Lagerfeld insists that no one even knows his real birth date.

It seems one thing is for certain, when Karl sets his mind to something—he gets results.  An example of this would be his near 90 pound weight loss a few years back, which occurred over a 13 month period.  What sparked the life change?  Fashion.  He wanted to fit in certain clothing designed for “young boys.”

What is known?  He has a vast library, likes restoring old mansions and is an accomplished photographer.  Enjoying opera, theater and films, he has also worked as a costume designer at points in his life.

Controversial at times, Lagerfeld has had run-ins with PETA regarding the use of fur in his collections.  Recent buzz has centered around comments he allegedly made about women who are too curvy.

Hoping to learn more about this creative genius, I’ve added Lagerfeld Confidential to my Christmas list.  This DVD has been on the market for a little over a year and has received very mixed reviews.  Can’t wait to see it for myself.
