Where do you find inspiration?
Magazines, architecture, blogs, runway shows, television, books, movies, nature and even random strangers. They are all sources of my inspiration.
This weekend, looking for a fresh perspective, I spent time reviewing the 2010 Spring RTW shows again. There were so many beautiful examples of fresh fashion… But for me, Lanvin was truly inspirational:
- Deep and rich dark colors.
- Cheery orange and salmon brights.
- Sparkle.
- Ruffles and bows.
- Figure-flattering draping of fabrics.
- Nude lips. Dark eyes.
To put it simply: Powerful, yet feminine. Alber Elbaz did it again!
How Lanvin’s Spring 2010 show changed my fall/winter 2009:
Lanvin, the oldest French fashion house in operation, has not only set the tone for a glamorous spring. They’ve inspired a change in my fall/winter fashion.
For the last few months I’d been rocking a bit of the 80′s influence. Tough girl with a touch of menswear influence. But after watching the Lanvin show again–I dug deep in my closet to pull out brightly colored scarves and shirts, a black sweater with sequins around the neckline–and even ruffles.
Cosmetics Too:
As for makeup, I’d been doing a more natural look lately. Lanvin changed that too. Today I did a completely nude lip with black eyeliner. Using black Tarte EmphasEYES, I lined inner and outer rims and loved the new look!
My Motto: “Whatever works!”
I may be a season early, but feel I’ve found a way to incorporate the elements of Alber’s spring vision into my winter ensembles. And most importantly I’ve found my latest inspiration. What inspires you most?
The following video and photos show a few of the l00ks from Lanvin’s Spring 2010 RTW collection that inspired me.

Natural looking makeup works well for me and my profession! Neutral lips particularly. Thanks for the tips!!

This post is amazing! Fall fashion is always so much better, but this makes me not dread the coming spring so much; and it makes me want to go through all those videos I haven’t watched yet for Spring 2010! Thank you!

❤ Melissa- You’re welcome. I like the natural look a lot too—but love to
rock out a dark eyed look from time to time–especially with a nude lip.
❤ Angelica-Thank you so much!!! You’ve got to love Lanvin. =) And I
agree with you on the fun of fall fashion. I always look forward
to the many choices fall fashion brings.
