In fashion, what sets some women apart from the rest?
You could argue that there are many factors…and you’d be right. However, one of the things that always stands out to me is the ability of some women to beautifully combine different elements to take their look to the next level.
Elements like:
- Fabrics
- Colors
- Textures
- Patterns
- And mixing high-end with casual pieces
For example, anyone can buy suit and look pretty good in it. But certain women can take a simple suit jacket and make it completely their own.
Think about Kate Moss and Mary-Kate Olsen.
A portion of what makes up the styles these women have become so well known for are their bold fashion combinations. I know we can’t all be the next Kate Moss…so below are more subtle examples of this concept.
In the following examples we are focusing on several looks centered around jackets. In the first picture below are three beautiful women wearing jackets that match their skirts or pants. All of the pieces are gorgeous. And I adore them.
But check out the next two women. In both photos they’ve combined luxury designer jackets with casual faded denim. Plus both of these two examples also perfectly illustrate the combination of textures as well. The thick tweed-type jackets contrast beautifully against the smoother texture of the accompanying pieces.
I think this ability of some women to reinvent their wardrobe in less traditional ways is part of what sets them separates them from the rest. What do you think?
If you like the look of the Chanel tweed jackets above, but want a less expensive option–here’s one we found at Bluefly.com:

I agree, the tweed is hot!

I love tweed! And I think that pulling it off is all about the attitude that you wear it with, otherwise it can probably look kind of grandmother-ish!
