It’s a Trash-to-Treasure Story:
Created from candy wrappers, magazines or newspaper pages; the Nahui Ollin Handbags are so chic! Perfect for “green” girls and fashion trendsetters alike, this collection offers one statement piece after another.
Designer Olga Abadi discovered the ancient Mayan art of weaving found objects into bags. And in 2003 Nahui Ollin was born.
Common materials in these bags are candy wrappers. (Don’t worry, they’re not picking them out of trash cans…) These wrappers were determined to be defective and therefore not usable. Instead of heading to the landfill–they now head to a designer. How cool is that?
Bags are available in numerous styles and sizes. But rest-assured each one is hand created, one at a time, by an artisan. So every single one is unique. Eco-Couture maybe?

We agree that these bags are absolute treasures – many hours of
labor go into each handwoven bag (eg the round town satchel
exemplifies the complex weaving involved). We
carry over 40 different styles and do custom orders as well.
Also hot this season are the magazine flower edition and
captain tootsie comic book series.
Thanks for your comment! And you are so right…this an
intricate, time-intensive design. Each is a work of art.
