Fall 09 Trend Alert:
Are you ready? This fall OPI is changing the rules–trading in high gloss for an ultra matte finish. Be prepared. This is not a less shiny or satin version of OPI’s normally high gloss look. This collection’s finish is completely flat.
OPI Fall 09
Although the matte finish may take some getting used to, the colors won’t. These are matte versions of already-popular OPI colors:
- Alpine Snow (white)
- You Don’t Know Jacques (taupe)
- Russian Navy (blue)
- Gargantuan Green Grape (green)
- Lincoln Park After Dark (purple)
- La Paz-itively Hot (pink)
This edgy finish was created for the ultra fashionista. For the girl who wants to take it to the next level. Warning: Not for the shy! OPI’s Matte collection even comes with its own set of rules:
- Don’t wear with a base coat.
- Don’t apply a top coat.
- Don’t use lotion while wearing.
- Don’t use with drying drops.
- And don’t expect it to wear as long as OPI’s traditional polish.
That’s a lot of don’ts. So here are the do’s: Do enjoy this collection. And do try OPI’s suggestion of combining the original glossy version with the new matte. Perhaps a modified French manicure, using matte for the base and glossy on the tips? Or get really really fancy like Michelle Mismas at All Lacquered Up. Suddenly matte makes sense! The new matte collection’s release date is July 09. In the meantime, OPI’s original formulation is still a classic!
